THEME YOUR HEN PARTY
A Hen party is traditionally your last chance to have (for want of a better phrase) a `right good knees up` with your friends. Hen parties are celebrated by the bride-to-be surrounding herself with her female friends and family (including the all important maid of honour, mother of the bride and bridesmaids). Whilst traditionally Hen parties were an excuse for a night out on the town, it has become increasingly popular for Hen parties to take place over a weekend, or even a week. Modern Hen parties can see the bride-to-be indulging in a spa weekend, jetting off to New York for a weekend of retail therapy or even off to Bratislava for a weekend of shooting! Anything and everything goes!
However, one tradition of Hen parties that has emerged of late and shows promise of sticking around, is themed Hen parties. Having a theme for your Hen party will add heaps of fun to the whole experience, not to mention giving everyone an excuse to dress up. You can choose anything you like as your theme, favourite film, favourite song, era, or even bring elements of your favourite hobby to the festivities.
If you are looking for an unique theme for you Hen night, why not consider an Amerindian theme? Somewhere such as the Middle Piccadilly Spa Retreat in Dorset, which offers accommodation in Tepees and yurts, could be just the thing for an indulgent spa Hen weekend with a difference. And, if Teepees are not your thing, you could always leave your bridesmaids in there and stay in the nearby luxury cottage instead!
Common Themes for hen night fancy dress parties can range from schoolgirls, Cowgirls & Indians, sixties hippy chicks, Playboy Bunnies, doctors and nurses and policewomen. But, you do not have to stick to these ideas and there are many supermarkets, high-street stores and websites which offer a wide variety of hen night fancy dress costumes.
For a personalised approach to fancy dress hen night clothing, you could even have t-shirts printed with the brides face on and a witty slogan of your choice (you will find this is surprisingly budget friendly, especially if all attendees contribute to the cost).
If you are going to opt for a Fancy Dress themed hen night party, ensure you consult everyone who will be coming along on the big night and ensure they feel comfortable participating. And do not be afraid to branch out and pick less obvious themes, such as the Renaissance, or the Victorian era.
